Aunia Kahn
Born on December 5th, 1977 in Michigan, Aunia Kahn is a self taught figurative artist. Kahn's work combines many disciplines, wrapping them into a hybrid art form melding photography, painting and collage. She invariably designs, builds, and executes characters, non-existent places, dreams, illusions, fears and fables into creation, which meld elements of classical and contemporary art. Each work makes use of her own likeness in movie-like stills, dealing in varied taboo and often controversial subject matter to challenge the viewer, their understanding and preconceived notions; yet she connects through honest feeling and emotions. Aunia's work has constantly evolved; earlier works dealt more with her past, while her more recent creations delve into present emotional conflicts and inspirations.
She is also the creator of the Silver Era Tarot deck, the forthcoming Survival deck, and the Lowbrow Tarot Project, is the author of Obvious Remote Chaos, Minding the Sea: Inviting the Muses Over for Tea (Release Date: June 2012), a graphic/web designer and owner of Aunia Kahn Designs, as well as musician, vocalist and lyricist for her musical side-project AfterChain. She currently resides in Illinois with her four German Shepherds and black cat in her secret closet.

Aunia Marie Kahn (born December 5, 1977) is an American contemporary painter, gallerist, curator, and entrepreneur. She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and currently lives in Boise, Idaho. She is also the owner of the Poetic Tiger Gallery the founder of Rise Visible.
Kahn originally began creating art as a therapeutic response to a difficult upbringing as well as chronic illnesses.[1] At the urging of a friend, her work was first exhibited publicly in December 2005 as part of the Voices Within Surviving Through the Arts show mounted by the St. Louis Artists' Guild. Her work has been shown at the San Diego Art Institute, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, IMOCA, St. Louis Art Museum, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Mitchell Museum, and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.[2]
Self-taught [2][2], Kahn works works in gouache, acrylic, watercolor and colored pencil. Her art frequently features figurative subjects in Maximalist compositions juxtaposed with symbols and nature.[3]
An interest in tarot[2] led to the creation of the Silver Era Tarot deck, published by Schiffer Publishing in April 2010.[3]
