    Slough Jets and Slapshot Ltd are pleased to announce that our main objectives, which we have announced earlier this year, of putting most of our time and resources into junior development are starting to yield tremendous results. As we are approaching 2014/15 season, and following work we have been doing with senior members of EIHA, we thought it would be useful to give everyone an update.

    Main issues in UK ice hockey for junior development are the lack of practice and game ice time available for the children and enough high quality coaching. The average UK junior player gets 1-2 hours of ice time per week. In all major European countries, such as Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia the average junior player practices 4-5 hours a week. UK juniors play on average 14 – 18 games a year, where in other countries that number is usually 36-48 games. In Canada and the U.S. number of games is even higher reaching for 16-18 year olds in excess of 60 games a year.
